Snow and Ice
This was John's third One-Person show and was the most visible thus far. The Torpedo Factory, attracting approximately 800,000 people annually, is considered the largest and most successful visual arts center in the U.S. The Art League Gallery is a major part of the Torpedo Factory Center and its monthly shows attract thousands of people. John's photos got excellent exposure.
The exhibit included city snow scenes, icy abstracts, a moonlit snowscape, wonderful shadows and spectacular landscapes. The locales of the images were also diverse. They included area lakes and streams, the Yellowstone wilderness, Colorado ski towns, the backcountry of the Canadian Rockies and distant Norway. Snow and Ice provided the primary subject matter or played an integral role in each of the photographs in the show. My wife, Barbara, and myself are avid cross country skiers, which provides the opportunities to photograph these beautiful and sometimes remote settings.
Even though the show is over - there are still many, many wonderful works at the Art League and the Torpedo Factory. Plus it's on the beautiful Alexandria waterfront. Check it out, you'll be glad you did.
